The objective of the PhD program in Law is to assist in the free development of individuals and expand human insight through the enhancement of existing knowledge and the creation of innovative methods in legislation and the interpretation of legal rules.

Familiarity with fundamental research tools is provided in the first semester of the doctoral program through a specified timetable for core courses (Fundamental Tools for Doctoral Research). The skills acquired within this framework enable students to become acquainted with the organizational tools of doctoral research while also learning the features of working with primary sources alongside the integration of secondary resources.

The primary method employed in this program is the practice of “learning by doing,” which requires students to submit components related to their doctoral thesis.

The next semester offers a choice for students: to complete core teaching elements (Teaching Methods I or II), begin research under the supervision of a faculty member, or continue with the first colloquium.

The seminar is an educational component and therefore not part of the doctoral thesis; however, the colloquium is related to the doctoral thesis and broadly reflects the sections of a thesis.

On the other hand, contrary to faculty-supervised research, where guidance is available on a large scale, discussion is essentially based on independent work. A reasonable combination of faculty-supervised research and independent discussion (three components, each worth 15 credits) supports the development of skills that are conditioned sequentially by independent or interactive work.

Teaching Methods I and II are elective seminars that allow the student to further shape their profile, especially when the student shows a particular interest in teaching rather than engaging in additional research.
