Supervision Course of Pre-Marital Counseling

Supervision Course for Pre-Marital Counseling

Marriage is considered an important decision in life, and many individuals prefer to consult a counselor before making this commitment. A marriage counselor helps them thoroughly examine all aspects of their decision; they also conduct assessments that lead to a deeper understanding between the couple. This awareness of personalities and behavioral patterns results in wise decision-making and prevents unpleasant consequences. In fact, individuals seek pre-marital counseling to determine whether they are suitable partners and if they can embark on a happy shared life together.

The role of a marriage counselor is to assist individuals in exploring their differences and disagreements before starting a shared life. This early understanding helps them realize from the outset whether they have made the right choice for one another. Differences in personality, interests, and beliefs can lead to a wrong marriage, which can have many negative consequences for both parties involved. Ultimately, pre-marital counseling reduces the chances of wrong choices and, consequently, divorce, by enhancing the couples’ understanding of each other. It also helps them develop constructive interaction skills, fostering better communication and a joyful shared life.

Supervision Course for Child and Adolescent Disorders

Most problems and disorders that individuals face during childhood and adolescence are different from those in other periods of life. Some disorders, such as Conduct Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder, only occur in individuals under 18 years of age; the remaining disorders, while sharing some similarities, exhibit distinct symptoms during childhood and adolescence. As a result, therapists who intend to work with this age group must possess specific skills and knowledge in this area. They should also practice therapy with children and adolescents in a practical manner.

One of the greatest challenges of working with those under 18 is establishing effective communication. Therefore, mastering communication techniques is the most important skill that a therapist must acquire. If therapeutic alliance is not established, none of the subsequent stages of treatment will be fruitful. Conducting a proper and structured clinical interview with the child and the parent is also essential for child and adolescent therapists. Additionally, the therapist must be well-versed in the treatment protocols related to child and adolescent disorders. The Supervision Course for Child and Adolescent Disorders at the Psychology Faculty equips therapists to implement appropriate treatment protocols based on the specific disorder of the client.

In the Supervision Course for Child and Adolescent Disorders, all the skills and knowledge required to become a child and adolescent therapist will be taught. The training in this course is practical and includes components such as case attendance, clinical and in-person interviews with the parent and child, case description and analysis, case formulation, and presenting treatment protocols. Various psychological disorders and issues related to childhood and adolescence will be examined during the supervision course.

Why should I participate in this course?

A child and adolescent therapist must be well-acquainted with the disorders affecting children and adolescents, as well as the therapeutic approaches related to each one. The Supervision Course for Child and Adolescent Disorders will teach you how to diagnose and evaluate this age group. It will also provide you with hands-on experience with therapeutic techniques for these disorders. Participation in this course is beneficial for all psychologists and students intending to work in the child and adolescent field.

Topics covered

  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Depression
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder
  • Shyness and Timidity
  • Aggressive and Stubborn Behavior
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Self-Stimulation Issues

Learning outcomes

What will I gain by participating in this course?

By participating in this course, you will have the opportunity to thoroughly analyze various cases. During this analysis, you will learn how to interview both the parent and the child completely. You will also become familiar with the formulation of different cases. Additionally, you will be taught the specific treatment protocols for each disorder, which will transform you into a skilled child and adolescent therapist. At the end of the course, you will receive a valid certificate from the World University of Science and Technology.
